POLICE DISPATCHER

In this position you will serve as a Police Dispatcher at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Providing around the clock 24/7 emergency police, fire, guard, and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and dispatching appropriate personnel and equipment. Responsible for the control of all emergency response patrols (police, fire, and ambulance) to include, but not limited to, the dispatching of, rendering assistance/guidance to, and the supplying of critical information to the patrol units. Receives and transmits, by way of radio, police, fire, medical, and other emergency calls as needed. Enters data pertaining to emergency calls into a computerized system for recordkeeping. Immediately determines the nature of the calls received and initiates necessary actions by relaying messages and dispatching and assisting emergency services vehicles in response to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service. For GS-05 Position - General Experience is defined as 1 year experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves 1) monitoring fire and police alarm systems, 2) utilizing radio operations to receive and transmit information, and 3) providing lifesaving instructions over the phone to callers. For GS-06 Position - Specialized Experience is defined as 1 year experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or equivalent pay band in in the Federal Service which includes:
1) operating communications systems such as National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system; 2) monitoring fire and police alarm systems, 3) utilizing radio operations to receive and transmit information, and 4) providing lifesaving instructions over the phone to callers. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
