As a Public Affairs Specialist you will establish and maintain relations with news media in enlisting their cooperation in providing the public with information for separate, special coverage actions such as mobilization war emergency, chemical demilitarization, personnel reduction, base closure, environmental impact statement releases and other actions. You will gather information and produce informational materials concerning command policies, programs and activities for dissemination to the news media and obtains feedback on the effectiveness of these materials. You will prepare formal plans for separate, special coverage actions such as personnel reduction, base closure, environmental problems and incidents, major on-post community relations events, i.e., Armed Forces Day, and support to near by communities including one metropolitan area (Baltimore, MD) and other actions. Establish and maintain liaison with leaders and policymaker (elected officials, educators, veterans groups and civic and social organizations) within the APG community relations area to ensure an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation between the military and civilian communities and promoting the Army-AMC image in the area. You will consult withunit commanders on a continuing basis to determine effectiveness of Command information programs and to determine new topics of interest that may need to be developed on a timely basis. Ensure availability of command information plans and materials to commanders of tenant organizations for their use as appropriate. You will assist the editor of the installation s command information newspaper to produce a weekly newspaper with a circulation of 5,200 and an estimated readership of 20,000. Prepare informational material covering a wide variety of activities, policies, programs or operations ranging from administrative, educational and facilities maintenance functions. Obtain materials and equipment to be used in Command Information displays and exhibits and coordinates with units periodically to review the overall effectiveness of the program.

Specialized
Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent pay and systems in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves: writing and communicating principles, methods and techniques of public affairs; experience developing new information materials including news release, fact sheets, brochures, booklets, broadcast spots etc; and experience making on the spot presentations to audiences
Education Substitution: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you can meet the qualification requirement using a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
