TAD PGS, INC. is currently seeking a Software Design Engineer I for one of our clients in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD . Must have an active Secret Clearance.
Position Overview:
Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goals outlines. Performs software analysis and tests software specific to area of business. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters to meet business requirements. This family is responsible for developing solutions to critical software architecture problems and broad design issues.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Works on software architecture problems that impact the design success of products or addresses broad design issues of future products or technologies.
Evaluates recommended solutions to problems related to software systems architecture and makes final recommendations to customers.
Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters to meet business requirements and hardware/software compatibility.
Works on tasks where analysis of data requires an evaluation of various factors.
Exercises independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and criteria for obtaining results.
Ensures project schedules, and performance requirements are met.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
Having knowledge and experience, able to handle seldom occurring job events.
May determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
Knowledge of assigned product(s), company functions, service policies and procedures and good communication skills.
Proficiency in computer applications, languages, technologies, advanced set-up and configurations, troubleshooting, and system design, and/or capabilities required for the position.
C++, Java, any Unix scripting language (Bash/Perl/Python).
Desired Skills:
Communications and networking (serial, Internet TCP/UDP/multicast).
User interface development (Gnome, Qt, or Java).
Concurrency programming (POSIX threads).
Geometry and coordinate systems (3D vector and matrix operations).
Basic Qualifications Required:
Software Developer with 3yrs experience.
Requires BS in Computer Science or related scientific/technical discipline with 3 years experience.
Must have the technical background and skills to perform in all phases of software design, development, and documentation.
Performs fundamental software engineering duties in preliminary designs, performing tests, commenting/remarking code, and debugging.
Prepares data and documentation when applicable.
